Restoring Daytona Coupe Race Car Side Pipes
These side pipes, designed for a Daytona Coupe race car, have undergone a thorough refinishing process to enhance both durability and aesthetics. The Daytona Coupe, known for its high-performance engineering and aggressive styling, relies on an efficient exhaust system to maximize power output while maintaining a signature sound.
We started by prepping the pipes through a sandblasting process to remove any rust, old coatings, or surface contaminants. This ensures a clean surface for the next step—applying a high-temperature ceramic coating. For this project, we used Cerakote Color Series-C in white, an air-dried coating known for its durability and heat resistance. Unlike oven-cured coatings, Series-C requires five days to fully air cure, allowing it to bond effectively while maintaining a sleek, even finish.
The side pipes feature custom mounting brackets, which were carefully cleaned and refinished to match the rest of the system. Every weld was inspected to ensure structural integrity, as these pipes will endure extreme conditions on the track.
By refinishing these pipes, we’ve restored their functionality and enhanced their longevity, making them race-ready once again. Whether for competition or display, these exhaust components will contribute to the unmistakable roar and performance of the legendary Daytona Coupe.
