Durable, Mobile Oven Cart Built for Efficient Spraying and Baking

We recently built a custom oven cart in our shop, designed for both spraying and baking parts. The cart stands 58″ tall and measures 25″ by 25″ square, providing a compact yet functional solution for our workflow.

Fabricated from 1″ steel square tubing, the cart was carefully cut to length using a metal chop saw, with each tube measuring 4′. We then welded the frame together using a MIG welder, ensuring durability and stability. To enhance mobility, we installed by welding four heavy-duty metal casters, which can withstand high temperatures. It is important to use metal casters if you want to use your cart in the oven, as plastic or rubber wheels would melt. However, the wheels tend to stick after extended use, so we plan to apply a high-temperature graphite lubricant for smoother movement.

For versatility, we welded four rows of perforated V-bars to the top of the frame, allowing for flexible part-hanging configurations. These bars have multiple holes on each side, making it easy to adjust hook placements to accommodate different part sizes. To prevent the cart from being pushed too far back and damaging the oven lights, we added two small welded stoppers made from the same 1″ tubing on one side, with one stopper on each vertical upright.

Looking ahead, we plan to add a mesh or grate platform for additional storage and a second level of hook hangers to increase capacity. This custom cart has already proven invaluable, and we’re excited to continue refining it!
